[ Applies to ] StorageGuard 9.x and later / IBM Storage Protect (formerly Spectrum Protect, TSM) / Main hub server with the Administrative Client
StorageGuard collects configuration data from IBM Storage Protect (formerly Spectrum Protect and TSM) by running read-only dsmadmc commands on a main hub server that has the IBM Administrative Client installed. This article describes the requirements and how to prepare the scan accounts.

Create a scan account
The following procedure is a suggested way to prepare the accounts. The example uses the Administrative Client user name sguard; you can use any user name.
-
In the Administrative Client (
dsmadmc), set the scan user's password and session security. Replace<password>with the account password:update user sguard <password> sessionsecurity=transitional -
On the hub server, give the OS account access to the client error log:
chmod 666 /opt/tivoli/tsm/client/ba/bin/dsmerror.log
