Preparation for Scanning CTERA
StorageGuard collects configuration data from the CTERA by connecting to its management interface over HTTPS and retrieving configuration and system information through available APIs or management endpoints.
The following table lists the requirements for scanning CTERA:

| 1 | Provide the IP address or hostname of the CTERA Portal managing the device. |
| 2 | Provide administrator or read-only management credentials for the CTERA Portal. |
| 3 | The user should have read-only administrative permissions sufficient to view configuration, device status, shares, and system information. Management privileges are not required. |
| 4 | Ensure IP connectivity through HTTPS (TCP port 443) between the StorageGuard server and the CTERA Portal management interface. REST API Example: |
| 5 | If Edge Filers are managed through the CTERA Portal, ensure the account has permissions to access device information via the Portal API. |
Creating a User Account for Scanning CTERA
The following suggested method can be used to create a user account with appropriate privileges:
To add a user (via the Web Interface)
- Log in to the CTERA Portal management interface using an administrator account.
- Navigate to Users → Users in the navigation pane.
- Click New User.
- Complete the required fields, for example:
- Username
- First Name
- Last Name
- Password
- In the Role field, select Read Only Administrator (recommended for scanning).
- Ensure the account Status is Enabled.
- Click Save to create the user account.
