[ Applies to ] StorageGuard 9.x and later / Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery / Cyber Recovery REST API
StorageGuard collects configuration data from Dell PowerProtect Cyber Recovery by opening an HTTPS connection to the Cyber Recovery server and running read-only REST API calls. This article describes the requirements and how to create the scan account.
In this article
Requirements
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Server address | The network name or IP address of the Cyber Recovery server. |
| Credentials | A user name and password for authenticating with Cyber Recovery. |
| Role and permissions | The account must be able to run all read-only GET requests, such as GET system/settings, GET users, and GET policies. Currently, this requires the Admin role. |
| Network access | HTTPS connectivity (port 14778) from the StorageGuard server to the Cyber Recovery server. We also recommend enabling SSH connectivity. |
Note: Cyber Recovery currently allows unrestricted read-only API access only to users with the Admin role. StorageGuard still runs only read-only GET requests.
Create a scan account
The following procedure is a suggested way to create the scan account in the Cyber Recovery UI.
- Log in to the Cyber Recovery UI as a Security Admin user.
- From the main menu, select Administration > Users.
- Click Add User/Group.
- Complete the First Name, Last Name, Email, User name, and Password fields, and then click Save.
- On the Role page, select the Admin role, and then click Next.
- Review the Summary page, and then click Next.
- Click Finish.
Tip: We recommend also preparing the Cyber Recovery host for scanning. See Storage Management host | Scan Requirements.
