[ Applies to ] StorageGuard 9.x and later / Dell PowerProtect Data Manager (PPDM) / PPDM REST API
StorageGuard collects configuration data from Dell PowerProtect Data Manager (PPDM) by opening an HTTPS connection to PPDM and running read-only REST API calls. This article describes the requirements and how to create the scan account.
In this article
Requirements
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| PPDM address | The IP address of the PPDM server. |
| Credentials | A PPDM REST API user name and password. |
| Role and permissions | The account needs a read-only role that can run queries. Examples of read-only REST API calls used: /api/v2/configurations, /api/v2/users, and /api/v2/common-settings. |
| Network access | HTTPS connectivity from the StorageGuard server to PPDM. |
Create a scan account
The following procedure is a suggested way to create the scan account in the PPDM web UI.
- Log in to the PPDM web UI as an administrator.
- Go to Administration > Users.
- Add a user, and assign it a read-only role.
Tip: We recommend also preparing the PPDM host for scanning. See Storage / Backup Management host | Scan Requirements.
