[ Applies to ] StorageGuard 9.x and later / Hitachi Content Platform for Cloud Scale (HCPCS) / HCPCS REST API
StorageGuard collects configuration data from Hitachi Content Platform for Cloud Scale (HCPCS) by running read-only REST API calls on the HCPCS system. This article describes the requirements and how to create the scan account.

Requirements
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Cluster address | The HCPCS cluster name or IP address. |
| Credentials | An HCPCS user with unlimited read-only REST API permissions, including the list, get, and info APIs. |
| Permissions | See Required permissions. Examples of API calls used: GET https://hcpcs_cluster:8000/api/admin/setup and POST https://hcpcs_cluster:9099/mapi/v1/user/list. |
| Network access | Connectivity from the StorageGuard server to ports 8000 and 9099 on the HCPCS cluster. |
| OS access (optional) | For future support: an OS user account and network access to the HCPCS instances. See Storage / Backup Management host | Scan Requirements. |
Create a scan account
The following procedure is a suggested way to create the scan account.
- Create a user, and add it to a group that grants access to the HCPCS system.
- Assign the user a role with at least the permissions listed in Required permissions.
