StorageGuard collects configuration data from Nasuni by opening an HTTPS connection to the Nasuni Management Console (NMC) and running read-only REST API calls. This article describes the requirements and how to create the scan account.

Requirements
| Requirement | Details |

| NMC address | The network name or IP address of the Nasuni Management Console. |
| Credentials | A REST API user name and password for the NMC. |
| Role and permissions | The account needs an unlimited read-only role that can run GET requests, such as GET api/v1.2/filers, GET api/v1.2/volumes, and GET api/v1.2/filers/ftpclients. The Enable NMC API Access permission must be set for the account's group. |
| Network access | HTTPS connectivity (port 443) from the StorageGuard server to each NMC. |
Create a scan account
The following procedure is a suggested way to create a service account with read-only API access in the NMC.
Create the service account
- Open the Nasuni Management Console (NMC), and log in as an administrator.
- Go to Admin Panel > User Management > Service Accounts.
- Click Add Service Account, enter a name, enable API access, and choose Password authentication.
- Set a secure password, and click Create.
Grant read-only API access
- Go to Admin Panel > Groups, and create or edit a read-only API group.
- Enable NMC API Access, and select read-only permissions.
- Add the service account to the group.
