[ Applies to ] StorageGuard 9.x and later / Dell NetWorker / NetWorker server
StorageGuard collects configuration data from Dell NetWorker by opening an HTTPS connection to the NetWorker server and running read-only REST API calls. Optionally, it can also run read-only CLI commands on the server over SSH. This article describes the requirements for both.
In this article
Requirements
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Server address | The network name or IP address of the NetWorker server. |
| Credentials | A NetWorker user name and password that can run read-only REST API calls. |
| Role and permissions | Read-only REST API access. Examples of REST API calls used: GET /StorageNodes, GET /Devices, GET /SecurityConfig, and GET /ServerConfiguration. |
| Network access | HTTPS connectivity from the StorageGuard server to the NetWorker server. SSH is needed only for the optional CLI access. |
Optional: CLI access
We recommend also giving StorageGuard CLI access to the NetWorker server. This lets it read configuration files that the REST API doesn't expose.
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Credentials | An OS user account on the NetWorker server, and a NetWorker user name and password for running NetWorker CLI commands. |
| Permissions (UNIX / Linux) | An unlimited read-only role that can run cat and ls commands, with sudo rights for the commands listed below. |
| Network access | SSH connectivity from the StorageGuard server to the NetWorker server. |
Grant the OS user sudo rights for the following commands:
cat /etc/resolv.conf
cat /nsr/res/servers
cat /nsr/nmc/nmcdb/pgdata/postgresql.conf
cat /nsr/authc/conf/authc-server-app.properties
cat /etc/ntp.conf
