[ Applies to ] StorageGuard 9.x and later / Hitachi NAS Platform (HNAS), VSP One File, and VSP NAS modules / HNAS REST API
StorageGuard collects configuration data from Hitachi NAS Platform (HNAS) by opening an HTTPS connection to the HNAS system and running read-only REST API calls. This article describes the requirements and how to create the scan account.
In this article
Requirements
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| REST API server address | The admin EVS IP address of the HNAS system. See Find the admin services IP address. |
| Credentials | A user name and password for each HNAS system, with the USER access level. |
| Permissions | Examples of REST API calls used: GET /v9/storage/virtual-servers and GET /v9/storage/file-devices/ntp-servers. |
| Network access | HTTPS connectivity (port 8444 by default) from the StorageGuard server to each HNAS system. |
Find the admin services IP address
REST API requests must go to a publicly accessible admin services IP address. This is typically the same address the SMU / File Administrator uses.
| Platform | Where to find valid IP addresses |
|---|---|
| HNAS and VSP One File | The Managed Server settings, or run evsipaddr -l in the CLI. |
| VSP N-series, and VSP G/F-series with NAS modules | The same admin IP addresses, plus the controller (GUM) IP addresses. Find them in the SVP, or in the SMU on the Network Configuration > IP Addresses page. |
Create a scan account
The following procedure is a suggested way to create a user with the USER access level. The example uses the user name sguard; you can use any user name.
- Log in to the server CLI as an administrative user.
-
Add the user. Replace
<password>with the account password:user add sguard <password> USER
