[ Applies to ] StorageGuard 9.x and later / Dell Secure Connect Gateway (SCG) / SCG REST API
StorageGuard collects configuration data from Dell Secure Connect Gateway (SCG) systems by running read-only REST API calls over HTTPS. This article describes the requirements, how to enable the SCG REST API, and how to create the scan account.

Requirements
| Requirement | Details |

| Gateway address | The network name or IP address of each SCG. |
| Credentials | A REST API user name and password for each SCG. |
| Role and permissions | The account needs an unlimited read-only role that can run all GET API calls, such as <BASE URI>/v2/service/healthstatus. |
| Network access | HTTPS connectivity (port 5700) from the StorageGuard server to each SCG. |
| REST API | The REST API must be enabled on each SCG. See Enable the REST API. |
Enable the REST API
- In a web browser, open the SCG panel at
https://<SCG_IP>:5700, and sign in. - Go to Settings > API settings.
- Select Enable API interfaces for this gateway.
- Click Apply.
Create a scan account
The following procedure is a suggested way to create a non-administrator account for the scan.
- Sign in to the SCG panel with an administrative account.
- Go to the User management & LDAP configuration section.
- Select Local users, and then click Add.
- Fill in the required fields, including User ID, First Name, Last Name, Email, and Password. Create the account as a non-administrator.
- Click Save.
