StorageGuard collects configuration data from NetBackup 52x0 Appliances by running read-only commands from the appliance shell menu over SSH. This article describes the requirements and how to create the scan account.

Requirements
| Requirement | Details |

| Appliance address | The network name or IP address of each appliance. |
| Credentials | A user name and password for each appliance. |
| Role and permissions | At least an unlimited read-only role that can run all read-only shell menu commands, such as Main > Appliance > Status, Main > Support > IPMI Network Show, and Main > Settings > Alerts SNMP Show. |
| Network access | SSH connectivity (port 22) from the StorageGuard server to each appliance. |
Create a scan account
The following procedure is a suggested way to create the scan account in the NetBackup Appliance Web Console.
Add the user
- Log in to the NetBackup Appliance Web Console.
- Click Settings > Authentication > User Management.
- Click Add User.
- Select the user type, and enter the user name and password.
- Click Save.
Grant permissions
- Click Grant Permission.
- Grant the Administrator role to the new user.
