The AI Assistant answers questions about your storage and backup environment, using the data StorageGuard has already collected. This article shows how to open it, ask good questions and reuse the answers.
In this article
Open the AI Assistant
- Click the AI Assistant button. It floats over every page; drag it aside if it covers something.
- The panel slides open. Resize it by dragging its edge.
- Pick a suggested prompt, or type your own question.
Note: If you don't see the button, AI is not enabled for your StorageGuard, or an administrator has hidden the AI Assistant. Contact your StorageGuard administrator.
Ask your own questions
Write as you would to a colleague. The assistant works out which StorageGuard data it needs.
-
Name the scope. A system, a site, a system type, a severity, or a time range.
Show critical findings on PowerMax systems in the London sitereturns a sharper answer thanShow findings. -
Use exact system names. Prompts that mention
CI(configuration item) mean a single system. Replace it with the system's name, for exampleExplain why the analysis failed on ontap-prod-01. -
Follow up. The assistant remembers the conversation, so you can ask
Which of these are easiest to fix?after a list of findings. -
Ask where to find things.
Where do I configure email notifications?returns the menu path.
Read and reuse the results
- Answers can include tables and trend charts. Rows that refer to systems or findings link to them in StorageGuard.
- Copy copies an answer.
- Export HTML saves an answer, including its tables and details, as a standalone HTML file you can print or share.
Tip: Check important answers against the StorageGuard pages they link to before acting on them. The AI composes answers from StorageGuard data, but it can still misread a question.
Conversation history
- Your conversations are private. Other users, including administrators, cannot see them in the AI Assistant.
- Conversations are kept for 90 days, then deleted automatically.
- To see how much of your organization's AI usage a conversation consumed, ask
How many tokens have we used?.
What the assistant can see
The assistant sees what you can see. If your account is limited to certain storage and backup systems, answers cover only those systems. It reads data only: it cannot change settings, close findings or start analysis tasks.
