[ Applies to ] StorageGuard 9.x and later / Dell Unity storage systems / Unisphere for Unity
StorageGuard collects configuration data from Dell Unity storage systems by opening an HTTPS connection to each Unisphere management server and running read-only REST API calls. This article describes the requirements and how to create the scan account.
In this article
Requirements
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Unisphere address | The network name or IP address of each Unisphere host. |
| Credentials | A user name and password for each Unisphere system. |
| Role and permissions | The account needs an unlimited read-only role that can run GET requests, such as GET securitySettings, GET dnsServer, and GET system. |
| Network access | HTTP or HTTPS (port 443) connectivity from the StorageGuard server to each Unisphere system. |
Create a scan account
The following procedure is a suggested way to create the scan account in Unisphere.
- In Unisphere, go to Settings > Users and Groups, and open User Management.
- Create a new user.
- Assign the user the Security Administrator role.
Tip: We recommend also preparing the Unisphere management host for scanning. See Storage / Backup Management host | Scan Requirements.
