StorageGuard collects configuration data from Avamar by running read-only CLI commands over SSH on the Avamar Utility Server. The MCCLI package must be installed on the servers. This article describes the requirements and how to create the scan account.

| Proxy server address | The network name or IP address of a UNIX / Linux proxy server with MCCLI installed. |
| Proxy server credentials | A user name and password for the proxy server. |
| Utility Server address | The network name or IP address of the Avamar Utility Server. |
| Utility Server credentials | A user name and password for the Avamar Utility Server. |
| Role and permissions | The account needs unlimited read-only rights. The Auditor role is suggested. |
| Network access | SSH connectivity from the StorageGuard server to both the proxy server and the Utility Server. |
Create a scan account
The following procedure is a suggested way to create an Avamar user with the Auditor role. The example uses the user name cntuser; you can use any user name.
- Log in to the Avamar Utility Server over SSH with an Avamar administrator account.

Create the user with the Auditor role:
mccli user add --client-domain=<domain> --name=cntuser --password=<password> --password-confirm=<password> --role=Auditor

The account password. Repeat it in --password-confirm. |

Assigns the read-only Auditor role. |
