StorageGuard collects configuration data from Veritas NetBackup Flex Appliances by opening an HTTPS connection to the appliance and running read-only REST API calls. This article describes the requirements and how to create the scan account.

Requirements
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Appliance address | The network name or IP address of the Flex Appliance. |
| Credentials | A user name and password for the Flex Appliance. |
| Role and permissions | The account must be able to run read-only REST API calls, such as v1/nodes, date-time/ntp, notifications/callhome, and security/login-banner. |
| Network access | HTTPS connectivity from the StorageGuard server to the Flex Appliance. |

Create a scan account
- Sign in to the Flex Appliance Console with an administrative account.
- Click User management.
- Click Add User.
- Enter the user details, and assign at least the Observer and Security Observer roles.
- Click Save.
