[ Applies to ] StorageGuard 9 and later / All supported storage, backup, SAN and cloud systems / Windows and Linux deployments
StorageGuard sends scheduled reports, emailed findings and alerts through your mail server. Until a mail server is configured, none of those go out. This takes a few minutes and is worth doing before anyone schedules a report.
In this article
Configure the mail server
- Go to Settings > Admin > Email settings.
- Enter your SMTP server's address and port, the sender address, and the authentication details your mail server requires.
- Use the mail server's encryption and authentication options rather than plain SMTP where you can.
- Click Apply.
Send a test email
Click Send test email and check that it arrives. If it doesn't, check the server address and port, that the StorageGuard server can reach the mail server on that port, and that the sender address is allowed to relay.
What uses email
- Scheduled reports. See Send a report on a schedule.
- Findings sent by email. See Email a finding.
- Alerts and notifications configured elsewhere in StorageGuard.
