[ Applies to ] StorageGuard 9.2 and later / All supported storage, backup, SAN and cloud systems / Windows and Linux deployments
Reports turn what StorageGuard knows into something you can hand to someone else: a findings list for the storage team, a pass/fail evidence sheet for an auditor, an executive overview for management, or a scan-status check for yourself. Every report runs on demand, exports to PDF, Word, RTF or Excel, and can be scheduled to arrive by email or land in a shared folder.

Choose a report
The Reports tab lists the catalog. Reports fall into four groups:
Findings reports
| Report | What it gives you | Best as |
|---|---|---|
| Findings Summary | A detailed summary of findings matching a search criterion: filter by severity, system, label or policy. | PDF or Word, for a team's work list. |
| Risk Summary | An executive summary plus the full findings list for the scanned scope. | PDF or Word, for management. |
| Analysis Summary | Pass/fail and evidence per check for selected systems. | Excel, for working through one system or platform. |
| Configuration Compliance | Every check by system with pass/fail status, evidence and all metadata. | Excel, for audit evidence. See Get evidence for an audit. |
| Vulnerability Status | Every vulnerability found, with all metadata. | Excel, for the vulnerability management team. See Prioritize a vulnerability finding. |
Asset inventory reports
| Report | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Assets | The asset inventory list: site, type, vendor, model, version, scan status. |
| Asset Details | One system's full CI page. See Explore your asset inventory. |
Executive summary reports
Baseline Configuration Overview, Vulnerabilities Overview and Assets Overview reproduce the three overview dashboards as documents, for a monthly posture update.
System (administrative) reports
| Report | What it gives you |
|---|---|
| Scan Status | The last scan result per system. The quickest way to list everything not fully scanned. |
| Scan Troubleshooting | Every open data collection issue, as on the Diagnostics page. See Fix scan errors. |
| Scan Task History | Executed tasks: who created them, when they started and ended. |
| System Log | The system event log: scans starting and stopping, connection failures, with severity Info to Critical. |
| License Usage | Licenses available and in use. See Manage your license. |
| Data Collectors Summary | Every defined collector and its details. |
| Data Collection Expansion Package Summary | Every defined expansion package. |
Tip: For a weekly health routine, schedule Scan Status and Scan Troubleshooting to the administrators and Risk Summary to the storage lead. Three emails cover coverage, collection and posture.
Run a report
- Open the Reports tab and click the report.
- In the upper section, set the parameters: scope, severities, labels, policy, date range, depending on the report. The defaults cover everything in your user scope.
- Click Generate. The report renders on the page.
- To download it, click the Share icon and select the file type: PDF, Word, RTF or Excel.
Note: Reports respect your user scope. A user who can see only one team's systems gets a report of only those systems. See Give a team access to only their systems.
Schedule a report
- Go to Reports > Scheduling and click +.
- In Report Name, select the report and set its parameters as you would for a manual run.
- In Report output, choose Email, or File system and enter the directory path where the report should be saved.
- For email: enter the Mail Recipients (separate addresses with semicolons), a Mail Subject and Mail Body, and the Mail Format of the attachment (PDF, RTF or HTML).
- Choose when it runs: Daily at a time, Weekly on a day and time, Monthly on a day of the month, or End of Security Risk Analysis, so the report goes out as soon as findings are refreshed.
- Select Send if empty if the recipient should get the email even when there's nothing to report; otherwise clear it so an empty Findings Summary doesn't go out.
- Click Save.
Tip: End of Security Risk Analysis is the right trigger for findings reports: the content is always current, and you don't have to guess when the analysis finishes. Email needs a mail server first; see Set up email notifications.
Manage scheduled reports
On Reports > Scheduling, right-click a scheduled report for:
| Action | Use it to |
|---|---|
| Execute now | Send it immediately, for example to check the recipients and format before the first scheduled run. |
| Edit | Change parameters, recipients or timing. |
| Clone | Make a copy for another team or scope, then edit the differences. |
| Disable / Enable | Pause it without losing the configuration. |
| Delete | Remove it. |
Custom reports
If no built-in report has the shape you need, an administrator can define custom reports as SQL queries against the database views, packaged as a reporting package. They appear in the catalog under Custom Reports and run, export and schedule like any other report. Custom reports need database views enabled; see Report on StorageGuard data with database views.
- Go to Reports > Custom reports and click + to create a reporting package: name, author, description.
- Right-click the package and select Manage custom reports, then click +.
- Enter the Report name and an Impact category, and the SQL query that returns the rows.
- To let the person running the report filter it, put
${ParamName}in the query. Each parameter becomes a form field on the report page. - Click Save.
select arr.SITE_NAME, arr.name, arr.type
from SAPI_STORAGE_ARRAY arr
where arr.name like '${Host Name Pattern}'

Put the reports people will actually read on a schedule, then set up Set up email notifications if you haven't yet.
