[ Applies to ] StorageGuard 9.2 and later / All supported storage, backup, SAN and cloud systems
The Assets tab is where you see what StorageGuard knows about your environment: every storage, backup, SAN and cloud system it has discovered or you've onboarded, how recently each was scanned, and how it stands on configuration and vulnerabilities. The Overview answers are we covering everything?; the Inventory answers what's this system and what's wrong with it?

Check coverage on the Assets overview
Go to Assets > Overview. Hover over any chart for the exact numbers.
| Panel | What it tells you | What to look for |
|---|---|---|
| Protection Status | How many assets were scanned vs. not scanned, and analyzed (protected) vs. not analyzed. | Red segments. An asset that's scanned but not analyzed has no findings yet; one that's not scanned has nothing. |
| Status | Assets compliant vs. not compliant with their policies, and highly vulnerable vs. not. | The ratio over time, not the absolute number on day one. |
| Last scanned | When assets were last scanned: last week, last month, 6+ months ago, never. | Anything older than your scan schedule. Findings on a system scanned six months ago describe a configuration that may no longer exist. |
| Recently onboarded | The newest assets with their type, compliance state, vulnerability state, last scan and whether they're protected. | New systems stuck at Unknown: they were added but never scanned or analyzed. |
| By Technologies / By vendor / By asset types | Distribution of the estate. | A platform you expected that isn't there means discovery or a data source is missing it. |
Tip: Treat Last scanned as the coverage KPI. If the never and 6+ months bars aren't empty, fix that before chasing findings. See Fix scan errors and Schedule scans and analysis.
Find systems in the inventory
Go to Assets > Inventory. Every discovered or onboarded system is a row. Sort or filter on any column to find what you need:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Site | The site the system belongs to. |
| Asset Type | Storage array or virtual array; storage or backup cluster or node; SAN switch; backup server or client; cloud service; management software. |
| Vendor / System Type / System Model | Who makes it, the technology, and the model. |
| System Name | The name you gave it, or the name discovery found. |
| System Software Version | The firmware or software version, as collected. Useful for spotting outliers and end-of-support versions. |
| Scan Status | Successfully scanned, Partially scanned (some commands failed, usually permissions), Connection failed, or Not verified yet (added but never scanned). |
| Scan Errors | The number of open data collection issues. Click it to see them. |
Useful filters: Scan Status not equal to Successfully scanned to work the exceptions; System Type to review one platform; Site to hand a list to a regional team.
Open an asset: the CI page
Double-click a system to open its page, the CI page. It's the single place that brings together everything StorageGuard holds about that one system:
| Section | What's there |
|---|---|
| Properties | Identity and collected attributes: type, model, version, site, serial, management address, data source and collector used, last scan time, and any custom fields you've defined. |
| Findings | Open configuration and vulnerability findings for this system, with severity and status. Open one to see evidence and remediation. |
| Compliance | Pass and fail per check for the policies this system is in scope of. |
| Configuration | The collected configuration itself: built-in security collection and any custom collection from expansion packages. |
| Change history | Configuration changes detected between scans. |
| Activity | Scan history, notes, and actions taken on the system. |
Tip: When someone asks what's the state of array X?, the CI page is the answer, and Reports > Asset Details exports it. See Get evidence for an audit.
Act on an asset
Right-click a system in the inventory (or use the actions on its CI page):
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Scan | A full scan of the system: built-in and custom collection. |
| Scan and analyze risks | A full scan followed by a risk analysis, for this system only. The fastest way to check a fix. |
| Custom collection | Runs only the user-defined collection items from expansion packages associated with the system. |
| View security collection / View custom collection | Shows the raw collected data from the built-in security packages or from your expansion packages. |
| Remediation Planning (AI-assisted) | Generates a suggested remediation plan for the system's findings, scoped to critical findings, configuration hardening, or vulnerabilities. |
| Delete | Removes the system from StorageGuard. Discovery will find it again unless you also exclude it. Use this for decommissioned systems. |
Select several rows with Ctrl or Shift to run Scan or Scan and analyze risks on all of them.
Export the inventory
For a spreadsheet of the inventory, run the Assets report from Reports, or export the current inventory view to CSV. The Asset Details report exports one system's CI page. For a recurring extract into another tool, see Using CSV exports for integration or Report on StorageGuard data with database views.
