Introduction
The Event Log is where StorageGuard records system activity and significant events. It provides visibility into user actions, initiated tasks, and other material StorageGuard system events, helping administrators troubleshoot issues, audit activity, and understand system behavior over time.
Using the Event Log
The following sections explain how to access, review and export the event log.
Accessing the Event Log
From the StorageGuard Web UI, navigate to Settings → Troubleshooting → Event Log
This page displays all recorded events and provides filtering, export, and reporting capabilities.
Event Log Fields
Each event entry contains detailed information to help you understand its context and impact.
Available Fields:

| ID | A unique identifier for the event | |
| Creation Date | The date and time when the event was recorded | |
| Category | The functional area related to the event (for example, scan, analysis, reporting) | |
| Severity | Indicates the importance or impact of the event (such as informational, warning, or error) | |
| Message | A human-readable description explaining what occurred | |
| Action Name | The specific action that triggered the event | See (1) |
| Actor Type | The type of entity that initiated the action (for example, user or system) | See (1) |
| Actor | The name or identifier of the user or system component that performed the action | See (1) |
| Object Type | The type of object involved in the event (such as a policy, task, or resource) | See (1) |

Filtering Events
The Event Log page includes several filtering options to help you quickly locate relevant entries:
- Show events from the last - Limit results to a specific time range.
- Category - Display only events from selected categories.
- Severity - Filter events by severity level.
- Free Text - Search across event messages and fields using keywords.
Filters can be combined to narrow down results efficiently.
Exporting Events
To export the currently displayed events:
- Apply any desired filters.
- Click the Export icon.
- Download the results as an Excel file for offline analysis or sharing.
The Event Log is also available as a report:
- Navigate to the Reports tab.
- Locate the System Log Report in the catalog.
- Run the report on demand or configure it as a scheduled report for regular delivery.
This is useful for audits, compliance, or periodic system reviews.
Permissions and Access Control
To view the Event Log, your user must have one of the following:
A role with access to the Settings tab (or specifically to the Event Log), or
Access to the Reports tab (to view the System Log Report)
If you do not see the Event Log or related reports, contact your StorageGuard administrator to review your assigned role and permissions.
